Cowl chafe seal is often used in the engine compartment where aircraft cowling overlaps the frame. Insulation tape is an adhesive-backed, high-density synthetic rubber that is available in various widths and thicknesses. Chafe tape made from Teflon fabric is frequently used as an anti-chafing tape between aluminum skins.
